A Message from Artistic Director Allen MacInnis
& Executive Director Nancy Webster

The Drama School embodies our theatre’s vision: to have a positive impact on the emotional, social, and intellectual development of young people. We welcome all children and teens who love good stories or are curious about theatre. More than anything, we know that theatre can help kids develop social skills, gain confidence and discover the power of their own voice. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to YPT during 2019.20, a season taking inspiration from the Seven Ancestral Teachings of the Anishinaabek. To find out more, visit the INDIGENizeUS section of our website. Join us for a year filled with celebration. Stay tuned for more information on alumni events and anniversary activities.

A Message from Drama School Director Liz Pounsett

50 years of students arriving excitedly and nervously on their first day, quickly discovering that they feel right at home, and then thriving as they make friends and discover newfound strengths. Five decades of incredibly talented and committed artist educators sharing their expertise and love of the craft with our students. Half a century and hundreds of generous volunteers who have offered countless hours of their time to support the amazing work of our students. We are especially honoured in this anniversary year to be working with the theme of YPT’s
54th Season – the Seven Ancestral Teachings of the Anishinaabek. In particular, we have a fantastic new class, Tell Me That Story Again, where students will learn about the Indigenous tradition of oral storytelling and create theatre that is personal and powerful. We are proud of our history and so happy to continue welcoming new students this season and in years to come!
